Photo Gallery: Eat The Rich – Pride’s Mutual Aid Variety Show by Thee Fiasco

On Saturday, June 14, recently dubbed No Kings day, the community did not just organize during the day but also at night. Thee Fiasco hosted Eat The Rich: Pride’s Mutual Aid Variety Show. The night was full of connection through passionate performances and informative nuggets on local mutual aid resources.

Thee Fiasco shares with OFM: “My original goal with this show was to honor the original roots of pride as a protest, but when coming up with names, my partner K suggested Eat The Rich. Fucking perfect. As I developed the idea, I got more and more angry about all the shit going on, and I decided I wanted to actually do something substantial with the moment I knew I could create.”

Admittance to the show was donation-based, either monetary or physical, and half of all proceeds went directly to feeding our local neighborhoods via Free BBQ Mondays (@fqmondays). 

“The first people I connected with were Free BBQ Mondays, but I realized that they were the only major mutual aid group I knew and could work with. I thought about how hard it is to get connected with the local community, and that’s when I pivoted to make it more about mutual aid than protest. Shit needs to get done, and for that to happen, we need to connect as a community and hold each other up.”

Before, during, and after the show, they put out a call for community highlights. They’ve compiled that list and have shared it here.

“I hope that a lot of people got connected, and I hope that sharing these resources with you will help get that connection even farther. It’s fucking scary out there right now. We need to be angry, but more than that, we need to be organized.”
