Pete and Chasten Buttigieg Settle into New Roles as Fathers

Pete and Chasten Buttigieg only recently revealed that they had become fathers, welcoming newborns Penelope and Joseph into their family, and now, the two new dads seem to be settling right into their new parental roles. The couple revealed their two children in a social media post. Chasten is known for his strong social media presence, but he took a step back after the announcement to spend some extra time with their new babies. Chasten has since returned to Twitter and is already making dad jokes, though with a clear, queer slant we’ve come to expect. “Has RuPaul considered a children’s album?” Chasten posed on Twitter, in one of his first tweets back since becoming a parent. “Because ‘You Betta Burp!’ has been stuck in my head all. darn. day.”

The tweet followed a more general comment on the trials parenthood and a popular TV show, as Chasten wondered if it was the gas drops and bicycle legs or Ted Lasso in the background that calmed a fussy Joseph, whom he affectionately calls “Gus” based on his middle name, August. The internet also noticed that Pete is rocking a different look following some of his first weeks of parenthood, donning a several-week beard when he was clean-shaven last month. One Twitter user joked, “I call this look ‘paternity leave,'” implying Pete may be too busy with his parenting duties to worry about maintaining a shaven face. Another user responded, “c’mon, ‘peternity leave’ was right there!!”
