Pennsylvania’s same-sex marriage ban struck down by federal judge

In what hopefully becomes a long streak of equality, for the second day in a row, a federal judge has struck down a same-sex marriage ban in the United States. Pennsylvania will be the next state to join the marriage equality revolution.

Like Oregon, there will be no stay issued and marriages my begin immediately, though there will be loopholes to exploit for those wishing to get married within the three day waiting period.

Though there was no constitutional amendment banning same sex marriage, there was a 1996 statute from the state, and that is what has been struck down.

Pennsylvania’s governor Tom Corbett is not in favor of the strike down, but Pennsylvania’s attorney general Kathleen Kane will not represent him in this case because she agrees with the ruling finding the statute unconstitutional.
