Pattie Gonia Releases Queer Anthem, “Made it Through the Night”

Pattie Gonia just released a new queer anthem, “Made it Through the Night.”

Pattie Gonia is an impressive drag queen, climate activist, and artist who began releasing music in 2023 with their upbeat single “High Heels.”

On February 21, Pattie Gonia released a hopeful love letter to the Queer community with “Made it Through the Night.” This single beautifully applauds the courage it takes to have pride in oneself. Pattie Gonia declares that, “This song is for everyone who has chosen to be courageous. Take pride in who you are. We made it through the night. Creating this song and music video was a celebration of queer history.”

The song celebrates the idea of resistance and community in trying times. Pattie highlights the power of survival in the chorus by singing, “No one can erase us, we’re here, and we’re staying. We sing ’cause we made it, we made it through the night.”

Pattie begins the music video for “Made it Through the Night” by saying, “Scientists agree that birds sing to each other in the morning to tell each other that they made it through the night. I think that queer people do the same. Pride is our birdsong, we are here, we made it through our night.” The music video furthers the inspirational meaning of the songs, as it features a montage of Pattie themselves, significant moments in queer history, and birds. The combination of queer history and birds in the music video encapsulated Pattie well. They have worked very hard in environmental spaces, specifically to include queer people in these spaces. Pattie’s passion for these elements makes the song and video all the more moving.

“Made it Through the Night” is Pattie Gonias’ third release single. Even with such few songs, their artistic vision centered on inclusion and support is clear. Their musical vision will be expanded later this year, as Pattie is set to release their first album.
