The passing of a Denver theatre legend: Randy Weeks
It gives us great sadness to report the passing of Denver Center for the Performing Arts president Randy Weeks, who died of unknown causes at the age of 59.
Weeks was in London attending the Independent Presenters Network conference when he passed, leaving stunned, saddened hearts in his wake.
Weeks has left quite a history at the DCPA, having overseen over 400 shows, and working for the center in some capacity since 1978. “Randy has left an indelible mark on Denver, Colorado and the national theater community. He will be greatly missed by all of us,” DCPA Chairman and CEO Daniel Ritchie said in a letter.
He had an eye for shows that Denver audiences would appreciate, helping Weeks catapault himself into success with DCPA, and creating a defined culture for the Mile High City.
Weeks was very involved in the community of Colorado as well. He spent time mentoring at his local fraternity, Kappa Sigma at the University of Colorado at Boulder, and produced a series of cabaret shows, watched by thousands of people at theDenver Performing Arts Complex.
Weeks is survived by his father, David Weeks; sisters Pam Weeks and Stephanie Gamble; and his brother Joel Weeks.
