One Colorado Releases Transparent: The State of Transgender Health in Colorado
One Colorado, the local non-profit leader bent on improving the lives of LGBT Coloradans has released the results of a long-awaited study on Transgender health. Their research is based off input from transgender individuals from across the state.
Communications Director of One Colorado, Jon Monteith said in a statement, “This is the first report in the country that examines the health concerns of transgender people at the state level, with detailed findings from a recent transgender health survey launched earlier this year and concrete recommendations for the medical community and health equity advocates to improve the health of all Coloradans.”
The first result worth noting was the lack of healthcare coverage and access to healthcare providers by transgender people. Though the Affordable Care Act implemented healthcare coverage for many, there are still quite a few without health insurance .
One Colorado’s Transparent provides recommendations for health care providers as well as allies and health care systems for LGBT individuals.
The study was done with 73 questions regarding several health behaviors and outcomes, and was completed by 417 Coloradan transgender and gender nonconforming individuals. The results of the study were presented in the form of infographics, designed by One Colorado:

One Colorado’s Transparent study goes on to cover many more facts and statistics regarding trans* healthcare, as well as a wealth of recommendations for healthcare providers and politicians to improve the lives of these individuals.
