One Colorado Hosting Two LGBTQ+ Legislative Events

One Colorado, the state’s biggest LGBTQ+ advocacy organization, is hosting two major queer legislative events to kick off 2025—the 2025 LGBTQIA+ Legislative Kickoff on January 15, and the 2025 LGBTQIA+ Lobby Day on February 3. These events also herald the launch of their new ‘TransForming the Narrative’ initiative, which is organized to re-work Coloradans’ broad perception of trans people.

The 2025 LGBTQIA+ Legislative Kickoff will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on January 15 at Champagne Tiger. This event aims to gather together advocates, allies, and legislators to outline issues currently facing Colorado’s queer community. To quote the press release, “(T)his is a chance to connect, build momentum, and prepare for the work ahead. This event is not just about making our voices heard but about coming together to create an inclusive future for everyone in our state.”

The 2025 LGBTQIA+ Lobby Day will be at the Colorado State Capitol on February 3 and is designed to provide Colorado’s queer community with the tools and the confidence needed to connect with their legislators on pressing LGBTQ+ issues. Specifically, the aim this year is to uplift and focus in on transgender, nonbinary, and gender-expansive voices within the legislative spaces, highlighting specifically rural and underserved communities. This comes on the heels of One Colorado’s extensive work within trans advocacy and legislature last year, one instance being a defeat of myriad anti-trans ballot proposals this past election cycle.

In connection with the ‘TransForming the Narrative’ initiative, One Colorado is debuting the Transgender Changemaker Cohort, “created to ensure that trans leaders from across the state are equipped with the tools and support needed to build collective power in our communities.” This is designed as a networking opportunity for trans activists, the ultimate aim being to connect the community in working towards shared goals within legislation.
