For the first time since 2014, Colorado Ballet brought back Cinderella. The show ran March 10-19 at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House, featuring choreography by Ben Stevenson, O.B.E. Sergei Prokofiev’s score was performed live by the Colorado Ballet Orchestra.
“This ballet is perfect for both the young and the young-at-heart,” states Artistic Director Gil Boggs. “Stevenson’s choreography seamlessly combines whimsical humor with classical sensibility and elegance. When paired with Prokofiev’s spellbinding score and spectacular sets and costumes, this ballet truly feels like something out of a fairy tale.”
The show is gorgeous and smooth, featuring a muted, spring-inspired color scheme and some truly beautiful dancing highlighting the grace of Cinderella told with an impressive set and even more impressive score.
“Sometimes, dreams do come true,” continues Boggs. “Bringing Cinderella back to Denver this season is one of those times. If you love The Nutcracker, I guarantee you’ll love this ballet as well.”
Stay tuned for more next season, when Colorado Ballet will no doubt up the game even further.
