Boston, Massachusetts singer-songwriter and soulful folk/pop artist Mel Fine has unveiled their sophomore single, “Alone Together,” alluding to an emotional yet catchy story of love and yearning, detailing the insecurities that come with a long-distance relationship.
The track acts as Mel Fine’s quarantine confession of sorts, a vibe-driven, guilty pleasure track many are sure to relate to through the infectious melody, honest storytelling, and carefully crafted melodic hooks. It’s pop music at its most stripped back, but the track is still vibrant and modern in form, with Mel’s soulful vocals reminiscent of soulful greats like Adele.
Mel themself is a captivating, nonbinary, storytelling singer-songwriter and producer, fusing genres like soul, folk, and acoustic pop to create honest and emotional music that pulls listeners in.
Last year, Mel Fine won the Your Song original competition with the submission of “Alone Together.” The award was created in a collaboration between Lit Honey Productions and Performers on the go, with a panel of independent judges reviewing an impressive line-up of original songs spanning a number of genres. Mel won a recording/marketing prize for the new single, with Lit Honey Productions and Performers on the go collaborating to create an all-inclusive package to launch and put the artist’s new single in motion.
“Mel Fine’s musical prowess is a result of not only their tasteful blend of pop melody and harmony but also from their natural ability to hear sounds,” Lit Honey Productions says. “Working with Mel on this last track was a great example of how Fine reaches for rich elements to infuse their new singles with fresh yet quality textures and sounds. I see big things happening for Mel, producing this latest track, ‘Alone Together,’ and has shown how promising the future is ahead.”
Mel was also award the 2021 Performance Division Voice Award by the Berklee College of Music Voice Department, and they also placed second in the Berklee’s Songs for Social Change content for their debut single, “In Between.” The track is a raw and heartfelt take on growing up nonbinary.
Mel is currently a scholarship student and senior at Berklee College of Music, majoring in songwriting, music, and engineering. They also act as vice president of the Berklee Songwriters Club.
