Nonbinary Artist Bizarrefae Releases Debut Single, Video, ‘Dwarfed’

Nonbinary artist Bizarrefae has emerged from the isolation of lockdown to share their rebellious slice of alt-pop to the masses with their debut track and video, “Dwarfed.”
Andromeda is the person behind Bizarrefae, raised by a musical mother who encouraged them to sing, dance, and make as much noise as needed to serve their happiness. They’ve always been drawn to music that comes from the heart, looking to write songs about their deepest fears and brightest hopes.
They cite Alanis Morissette, Kimya Dawson, SayWeCanFly, Zheani, Van Gogh, and Avril Lavigne as some of their influences.
Bizarrefae worked with electro producer team Endoflevelbaddie to surround the demos they recorded during lockdown, embracing their punk/folks roots, with a more modern, electronic sound. They previously formed the band C.O.N.S.P.I.R.A.C.Y. with likeminded people, where they lyrically explored what it means to be human in the modern world. Around that time, Warren Records presented the opportunity for the band to get involved in the VENN 21 collaborative youth project, and Bizarrefae began working with Endoflevelbaddie on the new, solo musical endeavor.
Bizarrefae’s video for “Dwarfed” shows images of Disney characters superimposed over them as they muse over the driving beat, “laced with misogyny, princess public property, that’s not me.” The chorus breaks it down even more bluntly, with a catchy but biting hook, “Fuck Disney, fuck you, I have better things to do.”
It’s a notable entrance into the music scene, an artist approaching their own sound and writing with a sense of confidence and defiance out the gate.
In reference to the new release, Bizarrefae says, “The aim of ‘Dwarfed’ is to create a conversation about redefining the fairy-tale genre to focus more on empowerment, independence, and fighting back against the patriarchy.”
