New launch of a conservative pro-marriage equality movement
Paul Singer, a major conservative donor, began American Unity Fund, a grassroots movement aimed at the conservative embrace of same-sex marriage. The organization enlists support from “rank-and-file” republicans, meaning the regular party members as opposed to the leaders.
The movement began with a release of a video starring Republicans and MSNBC’s reporter Abby Huntsman speaking on why they personally support marriage equality.
“What this campaign is designed to do is to give rank-and-file Republicans, conservatives, libertarians, moderates, independents across the country a way to express their support for freedom for everyone and to become a part of this civil rights movement of our generation,” Jeff Cook-McCormac, American Unity Fund’s senior adviser, told BuzzFeed.
