Nadine Bridges Named Executive Director of One Colorado

One Colorado, the state’s leading advocacy organization for members of the LGBTQ community and their families, will welcome Nadine Bridges as their new executive director on January 19. 

Bridges graduated from the University of Denver’s Graduate School of Social Work, where she continues to teach classes on privilege, ethics, community leadership, and social justice as an adjunct professor. Bridges recently served as the Community Health Division Manager of Boulder County Public Health, a role which involved overseeing programs that educated youth and their parents on substance abuse prevention, healthy parenting practices among teen parents, and promotion of healthy behaviors among LGBTQ youth.

Bridges also served as the Director of Youth Services for Rainbow Alley, an organization in Colorado that provides an inclusive and accepting environment for LGBTQ youth. During her work as an activist, Bridges has fought to create “brave spaces” that empower young people in the LGBTQ community.

Bridges will fill the position previously held by Daniel Ramos, who left One Colorado in early August of 2020. She hopes to continue Ramos’ work by providing support for LGBTQ Coloradans through advocacy for greater justice and inclusion. 

“My goal is to lead with love and respect for the human condition,” Bridges said in a statement published by One Colorado. “I believe the reason we are on this earth is to protect each other and advocate for the most vulnerable. We all have the right to be seen and heard, and in this past year, our beautiful communities have risked their own lives to let the world fully see the impact of inequality and injustice. One Colorado has been a leader in ensuring LGBTQIA Coloradans can live with dignity and respect, and I am excited and ready to lead One Colorado in creating systematic, equitable change for the future.”
