‘Moon Over Buffalo’ Brings Much-Needed Comedy to Golden

Moon Over Buffalo
With all the major world events going on in the world today, it’s very necessary to practice self-care, which for many, looks like getting a much-needed comedy fix. There’s nothing like watching a ridiculous TV show that makes you giggle or checking out some funny theater to distract and recharge, and Miner’s Alley’s rendition of Moon Over Buffalo is just the thing to get your mind off of the global tragedies.
The play, originally written by Ken Ludwig, follows Charlotte and George Hay, an acting couple who have fallen on hard times and are now relegated to the small stage. During the events of the show, they are on tour in Buffalo in 1953 with a repertory consisting of Cyrano de Bergerac “revised, one-nostril version” and Noel Coward’s Private Lives.
Unfortunately for George and Charlotte, everything that could go wrong does go wrong, abetted by a visit from their daughter’s clueless fiancé and hilarious uncertainty about which play they’re actually performing, also helped along by Charlotte’s elderly stage-manager and some heavy drinking.
This play features a lot of door slamming, arguing, name-calling, yelling, drinking, and cases of missed connections. If any of those things are a trigger for you, best to avoid this play. But if you like the idea of Three’s Company-level misunderstandings paired with the physical comedy of slammed doors and a little bit of insider baseball with the theater talk, this is absolutely the show you need to go to in order to reset and laugh out loud.
Miner’s Alley does a great job with the show, providing awesome comedic timing and a cozy, homey set that help make the show feel even more intimate and hilarious. If you’re a comedy fan, don’t miss out!
The show is running through mid-March. Get your tickets here. Check out an overview of all of their performances here.
