Milo Yiannopolous to Open Conversion Therapy Facility

Right-wing, cultural personality and former Breitbart News Editor Milo Yiannopolous is once again showing the world what an absolute douchebag he is.
In a recent interview with The New York Post, he declared that he is “ex-gay” and plans to launch a conversion therapy facility in Florida “to help other people go through the same journey that I am on myself,” despite the lack of data showing effectiveness of the exercise.
When asked in what sense he is “ex-gay,” Yiannopolous said that he is in an ongoing process of trying to reorient his homosexuality, but for now is in a stage of abstinence and enjoys using the term to troll his critics.
“‘Ex-gay’ is a silly expression, but it has the virtues of slotting into a print headline neatly and absolutely enraging the opposition,” he said. “Celibacy is a modest and achievable, middle-term goal; naturally, in the end, my aspiration would be to take it all the way.”
Yiannopolous told Christian news source LifeSiteNews that he was never wholly at home in the gay lifestyle and only leaned heavily into it in public because it “drove liberals crazy to see a handsome, charismatic, intelligent, gay man riotously celebrating conservative principles.”
The Independent also reported that after Yiannopolous declared himself “ex-gay,” he alleged that his husband has been demoted to housemate, and that the transition has not been easy.
Describing what he called a “Christian renaissance” occurring in the U.S., Yiannopolous claims he has had an easy time finding financial backers for the controversial, conversion therapy clinic and fundraising for the effort was taking off considerably.
“This has been the easiest thing to raise money for that I have ever done,” he said. “There is an enormous demand for this among people who believe they have been led astray by—it sounds silly to call it this—but, you know, the gay establishment. I think part of that is the resurgence of religious, socially conservative, kind of reactionary politics among noisy, young conservatives. People who are kind of, like, DMing me now to ask, ‘Where do I send the fucking check?’ Like, get me in your program.”
Of course, Yiannopolous has received a considerable amount of backlash. When asked about the potential harm conversion therapy can have on LGBTQ youth, he dismissed those fears as merely the product of the practice having a bad reputation.
“People who don’t believe in it call it ‘conversion therapy,’ and people who do believe in it call it ‘reparative therapy,’” he said. “For those people to suggest that reparative therapy is somehow damaging to people’s self-esteem is so laughably preposterous. I don’t take it seriously.”
No reputable health organization approves of conversion therapy, and members of the American Psychological Association have rallied against the practice since 1998, arguing that there is no credible evidence that such a procedure can change sexual orientation. Several other organizations have described conversion therapy as unethical and harmful.
Once the news broke that Yiannopolous was “no longer gay,” gay and queer Twitter users had a mini-celebration.

There is no telling where Yiannopolous is headed next with his conservative, sensationalism agenda, but the LGBTQ community and supporters are not taking this news lightly.
