Meow Wolf’s First Concert at the Perplexiplex

Meow Wolf

Meow Wolf, the extremely popular and innovative venue, is opening its doors in Denver this month. To kick off its opening weekend, Meow Wolf has announced a lineup of artists to perform at their first concerts.

Starting off is artist GRiZ, who will be performing on Saturday, September 18 at 9:30 p.m. with doors opening at 8:30 p.m. GRiZ is a self-described “future funk” artist, combining electronic music with live saxophone and more, and will be the first to play at the 488-person venue.

That same night, there will be performances from House of Flora. This Denver chapter draws their performances from the power and influence of vogue as well as ballroom culture. Vogue, the creation of Black and Latinx queer and trans individuals, is still a form of art that allows for performers to showcase their beauty and talent in a world that tries to suppress and eliminate them. House Motha’s Valentino Valentine plans to bring out the flora flavah at Meow Wolf’s opening weekend.

In October, there will be a second concert event at the new venue. This time, CloZee will be headlining with a DJ set October 2. Doors open at 8:30 p.m., and the show begins at 9:30 p.m.

In an effort to reduce the risk of COVID-19 infection and spread, the venue is going to take several safety precautions. For one, each individual is required to wear a mask and provide proof of vaccination. All guests must be fully vaccinated and have their vaccination card, or a photo of it. For those who cannot receive a vaccination, a negative rapid COVID test taken within six hours prior or a PCR COVID test taken within 48 hours of showtime are acceptable.

Employees of Meow Wolf are also required to take health questionnaires, temperature checks, and are trained in sanitation protocols. The venue is also to be sanitized every day, and hand sanitizer will be available throughout the facility.

Tickets for the first two Meow Wolf shows are on sale now.
