Meow Wolf Introduces New Art Exhibit in Denver

Meow Wolf

Meow Wolf’s Convergence Station, Denver’s space for otherworldly experiences, immersive environments, and art enthusiasts alike, announced its newest September collection, A Wink is Just a Wink.

A Wink is Just a Wink will allow spectators to delve into the sensual and primal nature of sexuality, as artist Amber Cobb playfully explores human interactions and varying perceptions of intimacy through her work.

“I begin with the body as a point of departure by gathering material associated with psychological and physical intimacy. The materials I employ have undeniable and unapologetic flairs of feminine, yet do not align with traditional norms associated with the domestic,” Cobb says. “Here the sexualized body has spread to consume… These transformations reconstruct and reshape both the physical object and physiological relationships.”

Lining the exhibit will be seemingly biomorphic hieroglyphs that’ll take on human qualities and emotion all from the confines of their unique grid. Each piece adopts a way to communicate and like our bodies, they are ever-changing, swelling, drooping, lengthening, and evolving.

Since receiving her MFA in Sculpture from the University of Colorado in Boulder, Cobb has exhibited nationally and internationally to include Hunan Province Art Museum in Kaifeng, China, Galeria Hilario Galguera in Mexico City, and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Denver.

Her work has also been highlighted in New American Paintings, #114, and Sculpture Magazine.

Solace, Cobb’s solo show, “immersed viewers in sculptural dialogue of fleshy tones and dichotomously seductive and repulsive forms. Building on a practice rooted in psychological and physical attachments, Cobb probed the space between decorative and grotesque…” Sculpture Magazine says. “Pouring, dipping, dripping, pooling, and painting directly onto objects, she renders them into sculptural forms closer to flesh and bodily fluids than inanimate home furnishings.”

The exhibit’s opening reception will be September 8 at the Meow Wolf Galleri Gallery. Guests may access the event by purchasing Meow Wolf exhibition tickets at that time. The exhibit will be available to ponder until November 11, 2022.
