Marjorie Taylor Greene Tweets that Democrats are Putting Gay Porn in Schools
Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene is known for her theatrical and often comical persona. Greene, a vocal Trump supporter, has taken her opinions to X, claiming that Democrats want to “stock the elementary school libraries’ shelves with gay porn.”
The tweet comes in response to one previously posted by Ohio representative Casey Weinstein. Weinstein poked fun at a new Louisiana law that says the Ten Commandments must be displayed in public classrooms. The new law, signed by Governor Jeff Landry, has sparked outrage across the state, with many parents threatening to sue. Weinstein tweeted about how the Ten Commandments, along with hungry children, do not belong in classrooms.
Weinstein was likely calling out Republicans’ apprehension towards free school lunches. Many House Republicans feel the CEP (Community Eligibility Provision) is too generous with its eligibility standards. Essentially, depending on the school or state, the CEP will grant every student free lunches, regardless of their eligibility.
Weinstein, a Democrat, used X to highlight the ironic priorities of the Republican Party, with many Republicans advocating for the removal of free lunches but the addition of the Ten Commandments.
Rep. Greene quoted Weinstein’s tweet but neglected his point about hungry children. Instead, she insisted that Democrats want to ban the Ten Commandments and stock libraries with gay porn. Greene’s tweet not only pushes a false narrative about the Democratic Party but also weaponizes and sexualizes the queer community. Greene is likely referring to the controversy surrounding LGBTQ+ representation in educational books. These banned books contain absolutely nothing pornographic, let alone sexual, but rather showcase diversity and acceptance.
This tweet is yet another example of Greene and MAGA supporters’ pushing harmful and false narratives to galvanize their base. Weinstein later responded, calling out MAGA’s views and Greene’s response, “Imagine getting this triggered over feeding kids in schools.”
