Major League Baseball partners with national LGBT non-profit

In March, Major League Baseball announced a partnership with the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC), opening the door for LGBT-owned businesses to become official suppliers for the league. NGLCC spokesman Jonathan Lovitz proclaimed the deal “historic,” and said the partnership gives LGBT businesses “an equal seat at the table.”

So what’s the criteria to partner up? Businesses must be at least 51-percent owned, operated, managed, and controlled by an LGBT person or persons to become a member of the non-profit.

nglcc_mlb“I think there’s not a high enough level of importance that we can put on partnerships like this,” NGLCC President Justin Nelson said in an interview with Fortune magazine.“We take great pride in the fact that this not only puts us closer to Major League Baseball, but also that we get to work with incredible advocates and athletes.”

So congrats and best wishes to the MLB and the NGLCC on their monumental team-up.
