MAGA Street Artist Sabo Responsible for Racist Signs in Denver

A MAGA street artist named Sabo has claimed responsibility for racist and anti-immigration street signs in the Chicago and Denver areas.

The self-proclaimed “street artist” is known for creating a variety of harmful signs, which he then puts up across different cities. Chicago was a recent target due to the Democratic National Convention, which the city hosted in August of this year. Some of the signs use racism to denounce presidential candidate Kamala Harris, while others just spew blatant racism towards Black people. Some of the signs even referenced Black people sitting “at the back of the bus,” while another said, “Kamala’s Illegals.”

The signs are most commonly found at street crossings and bus stops.

According to the Denver Post, signs were reported on August 29 around the intersection of Colfax and Oneida Street alongside a variety of other bus stops down Colfax. It appears that the signs were attached to metal bus stop polls right under the typical RTD signs.

Later, it was reported that Sabo had set up a P.O. Box in Aurora, Colorado, for his online gallery, “Unsavory Agents.” Sabo also posted pictures of his signs on Facebook, where he also sells them for thousands of dollars. His account has been shut down in the past, but as of right now, Sabo has been able to post about his signs on both Facebook and YouTube.

Denver City Councilwoman Shontel M. Lewis took to social media platform X to denounce the act, saying, “In a year when a Black woman could become POTUS those with hate in their heart are going to coordinate these kind of atrocious, expensive campaigns to stir division.”

Governor Jared Polis also responded, saying, “There is no room for hate in our state.” RTD officials and Denver law enforcement worked to take down the signs and have advised anyone who sees more of Sabo’s work or other harmful signs around the Denver area should report it by calling the Transit Police Dispatch at 303-299-2911 or by texting 303-434-9100. You can also submit an anonymous report using RTD’s Transit Watch app.
