Lizzo Announces New Single, ‘About Damn Time’

We’ve gone a little too long without new music from feel-good pop superstar, Lizzo, don’t y’all think? Well, the good news is that the wait is finally over: The three-time Grammy winner and platinum selling singer, rapper, and flutist announced her upcoming single, “About Damn Time,” on The Late Late Show with James Corden. 

It’s a fitting name, because it’s “about damn time” we had some new Lizzo tracks to jam out to!

Lizzo also announced that her new album was finally complete.

“Three freaking years, baby, I’ve been working on this album,” Lizzo says. “I feel amazing.”

The track is due out April 14 at 6 p.m. ET, but she gave fans a sneak peek of the track on Corden’s show in the meantime. Corden pulled out a “top secret” vinyl on the show to give fans a listen to the new track. After the preview, Lizzo assured fans there’s “more where that came from.”

Gabrielle Union, who was also on Corden’s show, asked Lizzo if there would be a TikTok dance to accompany the song.

“Oh my God, somebody gotta make it,” Lizzo says before pointing to Union. “You! It’s your time, Gabby! It’s your time! I’ll do it with you!”

“Are we gonna bring it?” Union asks, to which Lizzo replies, “Oh, it’s already been broughten.”

The mid-April week be a busy one for Lizzo, as she’s also announced her role as both host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live on April 16. Can’t wait until April for more from the musical icon? Fear not: Her Amazon Prime show, Watch Out For the Big Grrrls, is premiering this Friday, March 25. The reality competition show highlight Lizzo’s search for her next backup dancer, with the aim of uplighting and encouraging representation for plus-size people.
