‘Legendary’ Drops New Season 2 Trailer, Premiere Date

Legendary

“You did what needed to be done!” Fans of reality TV and ballroom culture are in luck—HBO Max’s hit ballroom competition series Legendary is back for Season Two, premiering next month, and fans can get a sneak peek on the upcoming action in the new trailer released by the streaming service.

Ten new houses are set to compete this time around, in hopes of snagging the grand prize of $100,000 at the end of the competition.

Master of ceremonies and host Dashaun Wesley returns for the second installment, along with Leiomy Maldonado, Jameela Jamil, Law Roach, and Megan Thee Stallion. Alongside the stacked roster of familiar faces, each episode will welcome a special guest judge. The second season has Tiffany Haddish, Taraji P. Henson, Amiyah Scott, Nicco Annan, Normani, Adam Lambert, and Demi Lovato slated to appear as guest judges.

The show’s official description states, “Legendary turns modern-day ball culture into a competition, featuring divas battling on teams called Houses in challenges involving fashion, dance, and voguing. Each house is comprised of five performers and a leader. The nine-episode series features the teams facing off against one another for a trophy and cash prize. Each episode features a different, themed ball and extensive footage of the competitors preparing behind the scenes.”

Jameela Jamil received backlash after the initial announcement of the judge roster for Season One, with prospective fans frustrated with the network for not picking a queer judge with more experience in the ballroom scene. Jamil followed the backlash publicly coming out as queer, who later said the timing of the news was a “perfect clusterfuck.”

The first season was filmed in front of a large audience to give it a true ballroom feel, but due to COVID-19, the show’s finale went on with no audience. Based on the trailer, it appears that season 2 will also be without an audience.

HBO Max also released a series of posters highlighting the new competitors.

Season Two of Legendary premieres May 6. Season One is currently available to stream on HBO Max.
