Lawsuit Takes Aim at Mississippi’s Same-Sex Marriage Ban

Mississippi is one of the last remaining state’s without a contested same-sex marriage ban– until today. Lawyer Robbie Kaplan, who represented Edie Windsor in her successful challenge to the Defense of Marriage Act.
Two couples are fighting the same-sex marriage ban: one couple was married in Maine and is seeking recognition of their marriage and the other is seeking to marry in Mississippi.
The case has been assigned to Obama-nominated judge, Carlton Reeves.
