Kids Learn About the Birds and the Bees

Birds. Bees. The birds and the bees. We’ve all experienced “the sex talk” and let’s face it, it’s all kinds of awkward. I personally choose not to look back on the exact conversation that took place on that fatal day when as a doe-eyed, innocent child, I looked up at at my parents and asked, “where do babies come from?” Nope. I’ve mentally blocked it for a reason.

The talk is never fun. And one day we will be on the other side of the table, trying so hard to delicately explain all the not so delicate details of sex. Lucky for us, it will be even more complicated because we will have to explain why two daddies or two mommies can’t just willy-nilly have a special hug and out pops a baby–we get to explain adoption, surrogacy, and all the other methods for having babies, too. Go us!

Watch as these parents awkwardly talk to their kids about “The Birds and the Bees” for the first time. There’s even a lesbian couple, and quite frankly, I think they did the best job!

If that video was completely unbearable and way too awkward for you, just teach your kids this version. It’s a little more complicated, but it does the job and when you’re done, they definitely won’t have any more questions!
