Kentucky’s same-sex marriage ban struck down

July 1, 2014
U.S. District court Judge John G. Heyburn II has struck down Kentucky’s same-sex marriage ban stating, “in America, even sincere and long-hold religious beliefs do not trump the constitutional rights of those who happen to have been out-voted.”
The judge has issued a stay pending review by the 6th U.S. Circuit Court, so marriages won’t begin immediately.
This is the same judge who ruled that same-sex marriages made in states where legal must be recognized in the Bluegrass State.
