J.J. Abrams confirms gay characters in ‘Star Wars’
J.J. Abrams confirmed that there should, and most likely will, be gay characters in some of the upcoming Star Wars movies. While attending a pre-Oscars event in L.A., the Force Awakens director Abrams said he wants the Star Wars universe to be more inclusive.
According to the Daily Beast, Abrams said:
“To me, the fun of Star Wars is the glory of possibility. So it seems insanely narrow-minded and counterintuitive to say there wouldn’t be a homosexual character in that world.”
With the next movie coming out in December of 2017, we hope the director has plenty of time to incorporate a queer character to proper way. And by that we mean, don’t make the sexuality a big deal. Don’t make us into a caricature. Please give us a lightsaber. A pink lightsaber.
