Obesity can really be a downer on your sex life.
If you are obese and you have diabetes or high blood pressure — or both — the ability to achieve an erection is going to go down. And that’s the last thing you want to “go down.”
Besides a toll on the enjoyment of sexual intimacy, obesity may lead you to become embarrassed about your body, and your self-confidence is likely to suffer. All of which is inter-connected to a healthier life.
Why? Because, sex is an important part of our overall health.
It contributes to a positive emotional well-being. Research confirms that there are many benefits beyond the bedroom.
Sex lowers your blood pressure and it can alleviate stress.
A British study showed that men who had sex at least two times or more per week were less likely to suffer from a heart attack than men who had sex once a month.
Sex also makes for better sleep and improved immunity system.
If you have been missing out on all the health benefits of sex, it is time for an intervention. Obesity is a serious disease, but the good news is that there is a cure.
Many are able to start a diet and exercise plan on their own, but others need some help. There are too many programs out there to count — but if you can find the one that fits you best, you will be on your way to a better sex life.
To find the plan that fits you best: You should understand your needs and what it will take for you to be successful whether it is structure, accountability or personalized care.
And always consult your physician or better yet, consult a weight loss specialist.
