Houston Hit “How Will I Know” Reimagined with Guetta Collaboration
Intersectionality, accessibility, and squashing the sexist, patriarchal norms through queer…
We can all agree that it’s not summer if we don’t hear our favorite tracks on repeat, including endless spins of Whitney Houston’s mega hits. However, few remakes of the icon’s classics actually make the cut of versions that are on par with the original: until now. David Guetta has done it again, and we are hot and ready for a new summer staple.
The multi-award winning DJ and producer Guetta has teamed up with tastemaker MistaJam and pop-soul sensation John Newman to turn out a fresh spin with “If You Really Love Me (How Will I Know).” Making its way to the top of summer playlists in its own right, the trio has preserved what we know and love about “How Will I Know” and still breathed a new life that will carry the tune into future decades.
“It was really cool to flip the meaning of the song from something about the start of a relationship to something about the end of one,” MistaJam says of the dance track.
“Who can resist the chorus for such a classic record as “How Will I Know?” Full of old school piano house grooves, this has sunshine all the way through it,” Guetta says.
“I’ve had the idea to remake this classic Whitney tune for son long,” Newman adds. “It felt so natural to bring a new story and emotion of my own to the already incredible song.”
Pride may be over, but the summer is only beginning, and this track will absolutely keep you dancing those sexy, steamy nights away.
