Hallmark’s #PutYourHeartToPaper Shows Us the Love Between a Trans Son and His Mom

This video is only a couple of minutes long, but have a box of tissues nearby. It won’t be a full on cry, but I know I definitely teared up just a little.

Hallmark is stepping up their game, and in anticipation of Mother’s Day on Sunday May 10, their newest campaign, #PutYourHeartToPaper, features Alex. And Alex is a trans man.

Alex sat down to answer a few questions about his mother. Unbeknownst to him, his mother was watching in the next room.

“What’s your mom like?”

Alex happily answers the question, but soon finds himself at an emotional break. “I was afraid to tell her [I am transgender] because I thought love would have conditions,” he says, “and the unconditional love that she’s shown has made me a better person.”

“I am who I am because of who she is and who she’s been to me,” he adds.

It’s then that Hallmark reveals that his amazing mom is watching in the next room. It’s pretty legit.
