Gus Kenworthy advocates for queer youth on ‘Family Feud’

Gus Kenworthy, the Olympic free skier and silver medalist from Telluride, Colorado, joined Steve Harvey on the popular game show Family Feud this weekend alongside his parents and two brothers.

While we could have spent the entire episode staring deeply into his eyes and falling in love, Gus made it very clear that he wasn’t there just to compete and selfishly win money, but rather win money for Miley Cyrus’ organization The Happy Hippie Foundation — which supports queer homeless youth.

Gus came out publicly a year after he walked away from the Sochi Olympics with a silver medal under his belt.

“When I came out to my family, they were completely loving and supportive,” Kenworthy tells “Feud” host Steve Harvey. “But that’s not a reality for a lot of LGBT youth. When they tell their parents, a lot of kids end up on the streets.”

Steve Harvey seemed shocked by the statement and responded …

“I guess I don’t get that part, you know if its my kid, its my kid. I will never stop loving my kid, man. That ain’t getting ready to happen.”

“Now if your ass ain’t working you got to get out,” Harvey concluded.
