Gritty in Pink, a new platform made to empower women in music, will host a Gritty Rocks Live (GRL) Spring Fling Edition Instagram Live Fundraiser on April 6 at 8 p.m. for Sexual Assault Awareness Month to support survivors of sexual assault, one year after hosting its first-ever virtual livestream.
The event will feature a showcase of artists, including rising pop icon Chel, singer-songwriters Lorelei Marcell, Cait Devin, Cloe Wilder, and Jasmine Crowe, punk artist Suzi Moon, singer Meia, and pop/country singer Alyssa Ruffin, and will be hosted by Shiragirl.
Headliner Chel is known for her song “Nasty Woman,” an empowering anthem that addresses being an independent woman, despite the labels society often places on strong women. Suzi Moon, a featured artist and April’s Gritty Bandmate of the Month, has been part of the Gritty family since the beginning.
“For me, music is just one of the mediums I use to express myself. My songs have characters, fantasies, and exaggerated realities that I get to bring to life through music, art, fashion, and film,” Moon says.
The platform will host the livestream, coinciding with Sexual Assault Awareness Month, for nonprofit organization A Voice For The Innocent, dedicated to support those affected by rape and sexual abuse by offering a safe space to share experience and seek help.
Alyssa Ruffin will perform her new single “Collateral Damage” during the livestream, and says, “I am excited and terrified all at the same time, but it’s alarming how many others have been through a similar, if not the same trauma.”
