Governor Jared Polis to Make Announcement Regarding Colorado’s Air

Governor Jared Polis has developed a plan to reduce green house emissions by 50 percent by the year 2030, with the goal to head towards net-zero green house gas by the year 2050.

In 2021, the first roadmap of this action was released, with the goal of reducing emissions in certain economic sectors of the state. Almost three years later, 95% of these actions were completed, prompting the release of the “Roadmap 2.0,” which has a goal to make updates Colorado’s emissions forecast while laying out new actions that plan to save Colorado residents money while still sticking to the commitment of making Colorado’s future both a clean and green one.

The new roadmap will lay out a plan that aims to be both cost-effective and efficient enough to reduce green house gas emissions that follow the promises of the original roadmap, and continuing to be on track to that goal. The new roadmap also introduces  ways to cut down emissions on transportation, gas, oil, and buildings. The new roadmap will also track how to expand on housing, expand ways of transport, and also maintaining agriculture and nature in addition to keeping walkability in the state and biking. Both which contribute to the personality of Colorado and also to us residents who enjoy its offerings.

Since the original roadmap, Colorado has been able to reduce green house emissions by 80% of the 50% goal, meaning that by 2030, the pollution will be at 2005 levels. The team known as the “Final 49 near term ” is a reflection of how Colorado’s government has been in effectiveness to reducing pollution across the state. This term includes goals to support a friendly approach to meet certain goals. One of these goals is to have 100% clear electricity by the year 2040 in addition to lowering emissions created by oil, gas, and mining industries. The goal is to get these enacted in between later this year and 2026.

As climate change has continued to be a huge issue that has been neglected on for years due to the misunderstanding and ignorance that many people have about it, it is important that these measures are taken to make sure that our future is a healthy and clean one, and Colorado has been taking these issues very seriously. One big benefit of this is that these actions will help create over 95,000 jobs, meaning that their is benefit for us residents in addition.
