GLAAD Presents: Black Queer Town Hall 2021

Black Queer Town Hall

RuPaul’s Drag Race icons and queer advocates Bob the Drag Queen and Peppermint have collaborated with GLAAD to present the second annual Black Queer Town Hall for Pride Month. The Black Queer Town Hall is an official NYC Pride event partner, and the star studded event begins at 8 p.m. ET back to back Saturday, June 26, and Sunday, June 27. This virtual wonder will be streamable on YouTube and Facebook.

This nonprofit organization helped curate this event to celebrate Black, queer excellence. This occasion creates an opportunity for the Black, LGBTQ members to cultivate a community and share diverse knowledge, discuss pathways to dismantle racism along with white supremacy and uplift the voices that need to be heard. This space establishes a safety net for community members to mourn, heal, and rejoice the lives gone too soon.

Black Queer Town Hall started a GoFundMe page to raise money for the Black, queer talent performing along with this year’s charity, The Knights & Orchids Society. The TKO’s mission is to build power within the Black, LGBTQ community throughout Alabama and across the South. They strive to obtain the dream of justice and equality through group educational practices. Their page is linked with ‘Uplift LGBTQ Lives’ a Pride initiative, which offers a centralized space for individuals to support and donate to the LGBTQ community. The GoFundMe page has already accumulated a mighty sum of $67,000 in donations to support the cause.
