For only the third time ever Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life will be available to non-Netflix subscribers.
The Amy-Sherman Palladino and Dan Palladino led original series has garnered even more attention recently following syndicated reruns on both StartTV and Hallmark Channel started within the last year.
The story follows the mother-daughter duo of Lorelai and Rory Gilmore and their lives and tribulations in the small fictitious town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut.
If you’ve ever met a fan, they will probably tell you that the 2016 revival is their least favorite season of the series and infinitely skippable. Well, except maybe you should see it once. Just so they have someone new to mull over that cliffhanger with.
Set nearly 10 years after the conclusion of the original series, AYITL brings viewers back to Stars Hollow. Richard Gilmore (Edward Hermann) has passed away; Rory struggles to stay afloat at 32 years old, and Lorelai struggles to commit. What does Lorelai struggle to commit to? Not Luke, but a replacement chef for Sookie (Melissa McCarthy) at the Dragonfly Inn. Old and new fans alike are treated to appearances by all of Rory’s serious love interests (Team Jess!), Paris, Lane, Kirk, Cesar, and more. Rose Abdoo, who plays Gypsy, takes on double duty as Emily’s new maid, Berta, and viewers are treated to music store owner, Sophie (Carole King), playing a bit of “I Feel the Earth Move.”
Danny Strong also returns as Doyle, though he and Paris (Liza Weil) are unfortunately not endgame.
Who does Rory end up with? Do Luke and Lorelai ever get married? Will Emily survive the high-class lifestyle without Richard by her side? Almost all these questions are answered in the four episodes of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.
Courtesy of StartTV, the 90-minute-per-episode revival will air on television screens beginning at 9 p.m. MST beginning today, Monday, June 8.
