Generation Collaboration Brings Youth and Public Figures Together Through Podcasting
Youth on Record’s podcast, Generation Collaboration, produced in collaboration with Colorado Young Leaders, is breaking through generational barriers and bringing them together to discuss important topics. These important topics range from social justice to racial barriers and equity for all people.
Youth on Record is an organization that “empowers Colorado’s underserved youth to achieve their academic, artistic, and personal best by employing local, professional artists as their educators. (They) are committed to ensuring that the youth we serve graduate from high school and are ready to enter the workforce, and transition to college or enter advanced technical training and careers. Our programs empower 3,000 teens in some of Denver and Aurora’s most vulnerable communities to make life choices that positively impact their future by teaching them to develop the coping tools, inspiration, and wherewithal to succeed in today’s world and to become leaders of tomorrow.”
Under the three pillars of Youth on Record’s programs, academic success, economic opportunity, and community activation, it only makes sense that their podcast focuses on social issues.
During the most recent episode, the hosts discussed diversity in universities with guest Mia Payne. They talked abut how going from a majority BIPOC high school to a far less diverse university was a jarring and alien experience and how they have to manage their expectations when it comes to others’ understanding of culture.
