Gay men denied housing because they weren’t “regular couple”

George Poole, 26, and boyfriend Matthew Greenaway were denied a London apartment recently, with a stark email from the landlord of the building saying he was looking for a “regular couple.” Though there are laws against denying LGBT people housing due to their sexual orientation, the landlord explicitly mentioned their sexuality as the reason they were not chosen for the flat.

Greg Rutherford, the London 2012 Olympic long jumper and friend of the couple tweeted out his disgust with the landlord’s decision:
