Gay Couple Kicked Out Of Uber Car for PDA
Since when can kissing get you kicked out of an Uber? I know I wasn’t supposed to, but I watched that show Taxicab Confessions, and a lot more than kissing went down in the backseat of those cars, and nobody ever got kicked out.
Well, last Thursday evening that’s exactly what happened, when boyfriends Corey Watts and Jordan Sloan were on their way to a friend’s house. The couple wasn’t drunk or rowdy. They were just showing a little affection on New Year’s Day.
“Corey and I were talking and kissing and cuddling and suddenly the driver stopped and told us to get out. I was caught off guard at first but then said to him, ‘Excuse me?’
Corey was quite angry but I just wanted to understand the driver’s reasoning. So I asked him, ‘Are you making us get out because we are gay?’ He said, ‘No, I pick up gay customers all the time but they don’t do that.’
I felt shocked – you don’t expect that sort of homophobic reaction in London.”
Corey and Jordan were still charged for their ride, and have since filed a complaint and are seeking a refund. And Uber has released this statement:
“Uber does not tolerate any form of discrimination either by our partner drivers or towards our partner drivers,” said a company spokesperson. “The driver concerned has been suspended from the Uber platform.”
Hmm…this is all allegedly, but it still seems interesting? Thoughts?
