Fox News Airs Interview Suggesting Hormone Therapy as COVID Remedy

In their continuous effort to avoid COVID-19 by any means necessary (except for, you know, a vaccine), it looks as though anti-vaxxers are now looking at feminizing hormone replacement therapy as a cure for the pervasive coronavirus.
Fox News aired a segment last week with Dr. Pierre Kory, president of an organization called the Front Line COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance, through which Kory has previously advocated for the use of the anti-parasitic drug ivermectin to treat COVID-19.
Kory cited Big Pharma and the FDA’s lengthy drug approval process for the current crowding of U.S. hospitals and demanded that people are granted access to inexpensive drugs to battle COVID, and among those drugs? Feminizing hormone replacement therapy.
Kory directed viewers to consult the Critical Care Alliance’s “MATH+ hospital protocols” for drugs they should take to prevent or treat the virus, and among those protocols, it notes “first line” therapy for hospitalized patients should include “dual anti-androgen therapy,” specifically drugs like spironolactone and finasteride.
Both finasteride and spironolactone are drugs commonly prescribed as part of hormone replacement therapy for trans women, as both block the androgen testosterone from being absorbed into the bloodstream.
There is a small amount of support in medical literature that indicates anti-androgens have some use in COVID treatment: A study published last year in the journal Viruses found that spironolactone’s beneficial effect in blocking androgen receptors merited additional study. Though, that’s not to say the study’s authors suggest taking spiro actively as a COVID-19 combatant or to boost recovery. Rather, they pushed for additional, general research into receptor antagonism.
So, instead of undergoing HRT and suppressing your testosterone because a doctor on Fox News said it was correct, vaccines, or even the newly-approved oral antiviral pill, are better options.
Though, of course, as the news organization suggests folks start HRT in the guise of “personal freedom,” they have also decried a recent study, funded by Dr. Anthony Fauci’s agency, that involves giving hormone therapy to monkeys. The study is looking into why transgender women are at heightened risk of getting HIV—which, of course, is a multi-faceted issue—specifically studying if hormone therapy is somehow linked to the likelihood of cells contracting HIV. The ultimate goal is to help transgender women avoid HIV.
Of course, Tucker Carlson ignored all of the specifics and said Dr. Fauci was “caught trying to create transgender monkeys.” he did not feature an actual researcher on his show to explain the study or why it’s necessary, nor did he address the issue of HIV transmission among transgender women.
He did, however, display a graphic reading “APE-SOLUTELY CRUEL” below an image of Dr. Fauci.
