Federal Government Encourages Snitching On DEI Employees
In one of Trump’s many executive orders, he issued the dismantle of all federal DEI offices and programs. He called them “radical and wasteful.” He also issued the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) to immediately terminate all DEI offices and programs. The OPM director Charles Ezell then sent out a memo telling all federal agency heads to place all DEI personnel on administrative leave and terminate all DEI contractors in the effort to follow through with Trump’s executive order. The memo also instructs all agencies to list the job positions that have changed descriptions since November and report them for “obscuring the connection between the contract and DEIA or similar ideologies.” The memo also stated that there will be “adverse consequences” for those who fail to report these changes to the specified email.
It’s disturbing, to say the least, that having diverse, equitable, and inclusive federal workplaces are not only thought of to be so outrageous by the president and his followers to be called “radical and wasteful” but so easily dismissible by companies like NASA who have already made moves to obey. The executive order states that the DEI programs introduced have “infiltrated” the federal government and have demonstrated “shameful discrimination.” Interesting how more people of color and people from underserved communities enter a space and they’re labeled as infiltrators. The order goes on to say that in ending these programs, Americans will get the government they “deserve,” one that uses their resources to “make America great,” Perhaps they misspelled “white.”
Many people on social media are not only pointing out the similarities to the snitching that occurred in Nazi Germany, some folks decided after reading this memo to cause some much appreciated disruption. Craig Calcaterra on Bluesky posted a screenshot of his email naming Trump and several of his appointees as having been “put in their positions solely because of their race/or gender despite the fact that they are wholly unqualified for their jobs.” @CameronCorduroy, on the website previously known as Twitter, posted his own email that includes a lewd copypasta involving a certain water-type Pokémon in an attempt to over-populate the snitch email with unnecessary content.
Activism comes in many forms, y’all.
