Fallen Owl Tattoo Studio to Host ‘100 for $100’ Fundraiser

Fallen Owl Tattoo Studio

The artists at Fallen Owl Tattoo Studio are holding a fundraiser called 100 for $100 to benefit nonprofit Cobalt Advocates, a Colorado-based reproductive healthcare center committed to securing and protecting every person’s access to reproductive healthcare and combating all threats to that access—now and in the future.

On Sunday, August 21, donors can select from a sheet of pre-drawn tattoo designs with the words “Won’t Go Back” to signify opposition to the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. The goal is 100 tattoos for $100 each with all funds raised to benefit Cobalt Advocates.

Adam Rose, owner of Fallen Owl Tattoo Studio, says that his business tries to keep work and politics separate.

“In the case of the overturning of Roe v. Wade, we had to take a stand,” he says. “We refuse to return to a time when individual healthcare decisions are made for, rather than by, the people who seek it. Having access to safe healthcare should never be a question.”

As tattoo artists who believe in body modification as a form of individual expression, Rose says it seemed crazy that the government could legislate individual healthcare decisions. Fallen Owl Tattoo artist Heather Reynolds brought the idea for the fundraiser forward, and six artists agreed to donate their time to the cause.

“We understand that this is a very heated topic for many people,” Rose says. “We have already received some blowback.”

The group reached out to Planned Parenthood of the Rockies to provide guidance. They were referred to Cobalt Advocates. Rose emphasizes that Fallen Owl Tattoo Studio “believes in the importance of protecting reproductive rights as a cause that’s worth fighting for.”

Some slots are already booked, but openings remain.
