Ezra Miller Apologizes for Past Behavior, Seeks Treatment
Ezra Miller—known for their work in Justice League, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, and We Need to Talk About Kevin—is also famously known for their troubling behavior in recent years. They have been arrested multiple times, have protective and restraining orders against them, and were spotted assaulting and harassing people in multiple different incidents.
Miller went through all that in the public eye and freshly announced that they are seeking treatment for their complex mental health issues.
“I want to apologize to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behavior. I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life,” Miller says in their exclusive statement to Variety.
Thankfully, they’ve already started their treatment, but many have been worried about Miller’s behavior since the start of their career. Miller has a history of physically assaulting fans and strangers, allegations of grooming and sexual harassment, and having emotional outbursts leading to physical altercations. Their two arrests in Hawaii include second-degree assault, throwing a chair that hit a woman in the face, and disorderly conduct and harassment for berating a group at a bar for singing karaoke, grabbing the microphone from a woman in the group, and lunging at a man playing darts in the bar. However, Miller had many other arrests prior to these two charges.
Miller’s behavior led Warner Bros. to consider canceling The Flash, in which Miller is set to play the title role, despite the important role the film could play for future DC films. The movie finished filming last year, but fans weren’t sure whether the film would see the light of day given Miler’s controversies. The Flash is set to be released in theaters in June of next year.
Miller’s statement and the talks around The Flash are getting mixed reactions from the public. Many questioned whether their apology and move to seek treatment was genuine or meant to appease Warner Bros. and maintain their starring role.
