esSense Productions LLC Puts BIPOC Performers Center Stage

Center Stage

Denver’s newest production company, esSense Productions LLC, will be releasing a special, multi-episode series titled Center Stage. The series will feature BIPOC (black and indigenous people of color) performing a multitude of entertainment acts from drag to dance.

The company, esSense Productions LLC, is Denver-based and the brainchild of two journalists, Star Ilalaole and Nick Young. The two work diligently to keep important conversations going through amplifying the essence of individuals who have been silenced for too long.

“Our mission is to amplify the essence of us all through the senses we perceive. We at esSense productions bring together industry experience and a passion for creativity. It is our promise that no matter what the project, we always approach our work with respect and professionalism,” reads their mission statement.

Beginning this month, esSense Productions LLC will be releasing two videos a week, each focused on one of the eight stories and performances they have collected so far. Hear from each performer, and see their talents shine through personalized interviews and professionally produced, live-style performances shot at Denver’s legendary Clocktower Cabaret.

“I am going to be putting into every single song and every single show that I put together a little bit of this pain and a little bit of this power that I’ve collected,” says Chris ‘Shiska’ Burroughs, one of the performers for Center Stage.

The Center Stage Series will consist of intimate interviews and captivating acts from local singers and performers. With their experiences amplified through personal performances, each of the nine cast members express their unique perspective on the wave of activism sweeping our nation, providing insight into how things like the Black Lives Matter movement have affected them and the way they pursue their art.

“It’s time for you to open up your eyes and help make some change because it’s not okay,” says Tyrell D. Rae, (Miss Zarah) Center Stage host and co-producer, addressing the current racial injustices.

The Center Stage Series has been 100 percent funded by private donors who made this performative experience possible. To learn more about esSence or to watch the series’ official trailer, click here.
