Egypt: Time of The Pharaohs Coming to DMNS

We’ve all gone through a phase at some point of being obsessed with ancient Egypt. Whether it’s the pyramids and architecture, the culture and self-care practices, or the mystic religious rituals, there’s always been something that’s fascinated us about this ancient society. Starting at the end of this month at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, you can experience for yourself the wonders of ancient Egypt during the time of the pharaohs.

Over 5000 years ago, Egypt rose to power as a state which unified cities and towns along the Nile river basin. As an important economic and political center, ancient Egypt produced an amazing culture represented by impressive art, writing, and power structures that still captivate us today. Whatever piques your interest in this influential culture, this exhibit is sure to provide a deeper appreciation and unique learning experience.

“Egypt: Time of the Pharaohs” will present visitors with artifacts, artwork, and interactive displays that provide insight into everyday life for ancient Egyptians and why this state became such an important center of power and culture. Not only will you learn about the power and extravagance of the pharaohs, but how common people worshiped, lived, and adorned themselves.

Check out models of ancient homes and sacred spaces to visualize how people from different walks of life all lived and worked together in this amazing society. Learn about the powerful influence of the gods of ancient Egypt, who had their own holy places the size of small villages. Visitors will also see how style and beauty was important to the identity of ancient Egyptians through personal artifacts such as clothes and makeup containers.

And, of course, this exhibit will also present information about the mummification and embalming processes that were a part of burial rituals. You’ll see the elaborate coffins and tombs of the pharaohs alongside sacred ancient texts. As always, DMNS volunteers will be there to answer questions and provide a virtual tour of the magnificent Aten Temple.
