If you could use a little Christmas cheer this year, look no further than the Denver Gay Men’s Chorus Annual Holiday Concert, starting December 5. The North Pole BriGAYde concert—a story of love, acceptance, and holiday cheer—will bring the queer joy you didn’t know you needed this season.
The Denver Gay Men’s Chorus singers are showing up big and putting on their elf shoes for the first concert of its 43rd season. This season, entitled “A Mile in Our Shoes,” will take audiences on a mellifluous hike that explores the diversity of LGBTQ+ journeys.
“Shoes hold significant cultural and identifiable ties in our society,” says Johnny Nichols Jr., Denver Gay Men’s Chorus artistic director. “Throughout the LGBTQIA+ experience—especially in recent times—shoes have become a powerful symbol of self-expression and affirmation that reflect the diverse paths we tread.”
Since 1982, the Denver Men’s Gay Chorus has been one of the premier gay performing arts organizations in the Rocky Mountain state. The 140-member ensemble has performed with numerous celebrities and musical icons over the years as it has continued its mission to build community through music.
You can catch the North Pole BriGAYde December 5-8 at Central Presbyterian Church in Denver. If you are in Boulder, you can see the annual holiday concert Friday, December 13 at Unity of Boulder Spiritual Center. And for those who are closer to Highlands Ranch, make sure you don’t miss the matinee performance Sunday, December 15 at St. Andrew United Methodist. You can find the exact times and locations below.
