DCPA Announces Outdoor Cabaret Concerts

DCPA

As summer approaches and more vaccinations make their way out, COVID-safe cultural events are becoming increasingly possible, and theatre is slowly but surely coming back. The Denver Center for the Performing Arts (DCPA) recently announced two upcoming concerts which will be held outdoors and in a socially-distanced manner.

The first concert, entitled Broadway Yesterday and Today, will feature Marco Robinson and Adriane Leigh Robinson, as well as a string quartet from the Colorado Symphony. The married duo will perform various Broadway show tunes May 15 and 16 at 6 p.m. Both performers have been in past DCPA shows. Adriane was Casey in the DCPA Cabaret’s First Date, while Marco performed in DCPA Cabaret’s Xanadu, The Wild Party, and the Off-Center production of This is Modern Art

Later in the spring, Sheryl McCallum will present “An Evening of Jazz” on June 5 at 3 and 6:30 p.m. McCallum will perform a series of jazz standards throughout the evening and will be accompanied by a four-piece band.  She’s known for her roles in The Lion King on Broadway, Xanadu at the DCPA Cabaret, the DCPA’s Oklahoma!, and the Off-Center production of The Wild Party.

The concerts will be held underneath the glass at the Denver Performing Arts Complex. Tables will be available for parties of two, three, or four, with some individual tickets available as well.

To purchase tickets, visit the DCPA website.

Other upcoming DCPA events include the Saturday Night Alive gala, which will be held both virtually and in-person on June 12. Then, from July 9 to September 26, an immersive and multi-sensory Van Gogh exhibit entitled Van Gogh Alive will show at Aurora’s Stanley Marketplace. Read more about these events and others here.

While we are still experiencing a slow and steady return to normalcy, we can once again look forward to live theatre, even if it looks a little bit different this year.
