CW’s The Flash to star gay super villain

The Pied Piper, real name Hartley Rathaway, is a physicist whose intelligent experiments go wrong, and he loses his ability to hear. He uses this to his advantage, and finds ways to weaponize sound waves against innocent citizens and superheros alike.

The Pied Piper is one of the earliest gay characters within comics, so it stands to reason he’d be gay in the TV series as well. The comics also have a lengthy storyline in which The Pied Piper becomes a force for good and fights alongside The Flash, which opens many doors for television script writers and this character.

The Flash is set to premier on Oct. 7, 2014.
