Cult Favorite Dracula Returns to the Ellie Caulkins Opera House, Oct. 3-12, 2025
The Colorado Ballet begins its 65th season with the return of local cult favorite, Dracula, based on Bram Stoker’s enduring novel. Opening at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House on October 3, the beautifully macabre show promises all the spine-chilling drama of the immortal Gothic love story set in 19th-century Transylvania. Joined with the ravishing choreography of Michael Pink and Philip Feeney’s original score performed live by the Colorado Ballet Orchestra, Dracula is sure to thrill Mile High City ballet fans who crave a spooky evening.
Prepare to be immersed in elaborate Victorian-style sets and costumes, enchanting vampires, a Corps de Ballet (the corps de ballet is the group of dancers who are not principal dancers or soloists—the chorus) of the “undead,” and Philip Feeney’s original score from 1996 performed live by the Colorado Ballet Orchestra.
“The level of passion our patrons show each time we bring Dracula back to Denver is incredible, and our dancers love performing this ballet as much as people enjoy watching it,” says Artistic Director of Colorado Ballet Gil Boggs. “The last time we presented this production in 2022, performances sold out before we even opened, and we’re looking forward to another sold-out run this season.”
“This is the third time we’ll have live vocalists join us from the Evans Choir, led by Colorado Ballet Orchestra Associate Conductor Catherine Sailer. We were actually the first company to introduce a live choir to the production, and it really adds to the haunting quality of the ballet,” continues Boggs.
On October 12, a Vampire Ball will be held, to which attending audiences are strongly encouraged to “come dressed in your finest vampire best,” as Colorado Ballet Executive Director Sameed Afghani says!
Tickets to Dracula are already selling quickly, and Colorado Ballet anticipates that performances will sell out again this season.
