Cryptid Cuties: Podcast Review
Are you interested in tales of creatures like the Loch Ness Monster, Bigfoot, or the Mothman? Then you have come to the right place! Cryptid Cuties, a new podcast first released in May of last year, is shining a light on what exactly cryptid creatures are and sharing with listeners different stories about these creepy critters.
Co-creators of the podcast Brigette and Jennie start their debut off by discussing the definitions of both cryptids and mythical creatures and share a little bit of the lore about the mud volcano creature of Georgia and the childhood scary story Tailypo.
Brigette and Jenny share the definition of a cryptid, which is “an animal or creature, such as a Sasquatch or Loch Ness Monster that has been claimed to exist but never proven to exist.” They then share the definition for a mythical or legendary creature, which is “a type of fictional entity, typically a hybrid that has not been proven and has been described in folklore but may be featured in historical accounts. Some examples of mythical creatures might include a cyclops, minotaur, unicorn, or dragon. Next, they go on to discuss different types of cryptids, which are usually split into three categories: aquatic or semi-aquatic, terrestrial, and “winged” or flying.
After sharing a little bit of background information, they begin telling listeners what they know about the Georgia mud volcano creature, which has been apparently sighted as far back as the 1800s. They also share the story of the Tailypo, a creature that is a part of North American folklore and is said to reside in the Appalachian Mountains.
Without spoiling the details of the podcast, I can definitely say that the first episode left me wanting more! Jennie and Brigette do a phenomenal job of providing information as well as keeping listeners laughing and entertained by their amusing re-telling of the stories they share. Cryptid Cuties is a must-add to your list this summer!
