Conservative Attorney General Finds Further Legal Action Against Marriage Equality Unethical

Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne released a statement after a ruling from the federal judge that brought same-sex marriage to Arizona. In this statement, Horne says that any further arguments against marriage equality will fail, and pursuing these arguments would be a breach of ethics.

Horne’s statement:

The Rule 11 that he mentions is a Federal Rule of Civil Procedure that states any attorney’s court filing are “not being presented for any improper purpose, such as to harass, cause unnecessary delay, or needlessly increase the cost of litigation,” and any attorney who violates this rule may be subject to sanctions and fines.

Essentially, Horne sees arguments against marriage equality as so weak, that they are subject to unquestionable failure, and any pursuit of ending same-sex marriage in court is a waste of time and resources.
