The Center appoints Nadine Bridges as Youth Services Director
Debra Pollock, CEO of The GLBT Community Center of Colorado (“The Center”) announced today the appointment of Nadine Bridges to the position of Youth Services Director. Nadine will serve as director of Rainbow Alley, The Center’s program serving lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youth and their families.
“We are very excited that Nadine will be joining the staff of The Center,” Pollock said. “Nadine’s experience is a terrific match for the needs of the young people we serve. With her background in social work and her engaging personality, we see great things in the future for the youth of Rainbow Alley.”
Nadine Bridges has dedicated herself to working with and advocating for under-served youth and marginalized communities for the past 19 years. She is passionate about empowerment, social justice, and inclusiveness work. Previously, she worked as a youth and family engagement manager/clinical case manager for Denver Urban Scholars.
Nadine volunteered in Nicaragua with the Peace Corps in the youth development sector; started her own mentor program during her undergraduate years at the College of Charleston; and taught Spanish at a charter school in Charleston, South Carolina. Currently, Nadine works as an adjunct professor at the Graduate School of Social Work at the University of Denver. Nadine earned her BS in Biology from the College of Charleston and her Master of Social Work from the University of Denver along with a Certificate for Social Work with Latinos/as.
“I am honored to become a part of The Center,” Nadine said. “My passion is, and always will be, to understand youth, diversity, the world we live in, and how these factors affect each and every one of us. I am impressed by the support that Rainbow Alley has offered LGBTQ youth and look forward to forming and collaborating with new community partners; building capacity; as well as advocating for and working with the youth we serve. “
During the month of August, Rainbow Alley has been on sabbatical while The Center searched for a new director. During this down time, the Rainbow Alley space has undergone much-needed updates and renovations such as new lighting. The space is scheduled to re-open on Thursday, September 18 for youth drop-in hours starting at 3:00 pm.
