Capitol rally for DOMA/Prop 8 Supreme Court rulings

Several hundred people braved the heat and flocked to the west steps of the Colorado State Capitol on June 26th to celebrate the U.S. Supreme Courts decisions on DOMA and California’s Proposition 8. Earlier in the day, the Court announced that key provisions of DOMA were unconstitutional, clearing the way for legally married same sex couples to enjoy the same Federal benefits as their heterosexual counterparts. The Court also ruled that the proponents of Proposition 8 did not have standing to contest a lower court’s ruling striking the measure, which will lead to marriage equality being reinstated in California.
